Zaki Ali has been overcoming challenges through hard work his entire life. Raised by a single mother and challenged with dyslexia, Zaki learned early on the importance of hard work by watching his mother wake up every morning at 5:30 a.m. to go to work to support her family. His mother, along with his public-school teachers and football coach, taught him a strong work ethic and held him accountable to do his best, each and every day.
Zaki attended community college and finished his undergraduate studies at Southeast Missouri State University with a double major. Then he earned his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. While continuing to work at a global pharmaceutical company during the day, Zaki earned his law degree taking evening classes.
After law school Zaki began work for the Indiana Attorney General and as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Madison County. He then decided to begin his own practice focused on defending and helping our community.
All of these life lessons and challenges, as well as a strong desire to serve and give back, led Zaki to decide to run for State Senate. He embodies the character traits of hard work, accountability and achieving results that are part of our shared Hoosier values. Our community has faced many great challenges, but Zaki knows that, with great challenges, come great opportunities for growth and change. We just need the right leader who is willing to embrace those challenges and create positive change for our community. Zaki is ready to step up, embrace these challenges, and serve.
